As a luxury automotive brand, our client knows how to cater to its customers’ needs. As part of ongoing efforts to provide a quality driving experience, our client's Reseach and Development department is always looking for new ways to use vehicle-based software to provide added utility for the driver.
After working with Digital Foundry on several similar projects, our client's team chose to partner with us again to investigate, define, and provide preliminary specifications for software that would allow drivers to customize the services available to them via the head unit. Part of our charter was to design a system that could be integrated into the current software stack, and the other half was to design a development strategy that could integrate well with our client's existing development culture.
Digital Foundry worked closely with client personnel to identify critical assumptions, operational requirements, and dependencies that would guide the creation of this architecture. Leveraging this information, we were able to design a solution that would allow drivers to program their head unit without requiring any changes to the existing technical infrastructure.
In addition to providing a technical design, Digital Foundry consultants provided an operational strategy that aligned the implementation plan with the existing research, development, and implementation schedules of the client. We provided recommendations and direction for a software development work stream that fit within the existing product release cycles while still facilitating rapid development and frequent iteration.
Through close collaboration with the project stakeholders, Digital Foundry was able to better understand their capabilities and constraints. With this information in hand, we were able to provide:
Although it was not possible to modify the stack we were working with, we were able to offer some compelling options and creative architecture that made it possible to achieve our client's goals.
This luxury auto maker established its relationship with Digital Foundry in 2010. Since that time it has used Digital Foundry's Digital Strategy, Software Planning services.
