Interaction Design Consultant

Digital Foundry, Inc. is a leading business and software consulting firm looking to bring on a few talented software consultants at its waterfront office in sunny Tiburon, CA.  You will help Digital Foundry plan, build, and maintain highly visible custom software for start-ups and large multinational companies.

Responsibilities

Interaction Design Consultants enter client engagements to ensure that functional elements align with human factor principles. They work to establish representative character profiles for key audience groups, scope usage scenarios, and identify differences in information types and access required by different customer groups. Tasks include product usability, evaluation and development team support, low fidelity user testing to support rapid development of user interfaces, and usability testing for validation and heuristic evaluations based on principles/guidelines from industry best practices and cognitive research. Project deliverables are overall navigation schematics, interaction models, and branding and design parameters that will serve as reference for graphic designers. 

Skills and Experience

• 3 years of proven experience in human factors engineering (including Web, software, or e-business solutions development)
• Education in cognitive or experimental psychology, human factors or equivalent preferred
• Highly developed UI design skills for creating paper and electronic prototypes (graphic design, Web design, Web development languages/technology)
• Ability to flexibly articulate the value of user-centered designs
• Good understanding of graphical design and software programming basics
• Ability to integrate into project teams and take direction and input effectively
